5 warning signs your brakes need attention

Brakes rarely fail overnight — they warn you first. Here are the five signs worth acting on before they become a bill.

Your brakes are the most important safety system in your car, and they almost always give you warning before they become a problem. If you notice any of these, book a brake check — most are cheap to fix early and costly to ignore.

The five to watch for

  • Squealing or grinding when you brake
  • A soft, spongy or low brake pedal
  • The car pulling to one side when stopping
  • A shudder or pulsing through the pedal
  • A brake warning light on the dash

What to do

Any of these is worth a look — grinding especially, because that’s usually metal on metal and does further damage the longer you leave it. We’ll inspect the whole system, show you what we find, and quote clearly before touching anything.
